Pri ovakvom razaraju\u0107em dejstvu niskih temperatura, mnoge ozime kulture bi na ni\u017eim temperaturama brzo uginule ukoliko ne bi postojao proces kaljenja. Prikupljeni \u0161e\u0107er, osim \u0161to slu\u017ei kao rezerva hrane i energije zimi, pove\u0107ava koncentraciju \u0107elijskog soka i time otpornost na stvaranje kristala leda. Za <strong>proces kaljenja najpogodiniji su vedri dani i prohladne no\u0107i<\/strong> sa temperaturom do 6\u2070 C, dok je toplo i obla\u010dno vrijeme nepovoljno jer tada biljke intenzivno rastu i tro\u0161e stvorene ugljene hidrate. Vrijeme trajanja procesa kaljenje je razli\u010dito za pojedine biljke, a zavisi i od uticaja spoljnih faktora, prije svega temperature i svjetlosti. Za ve\u0107inu sorti p\u0161enice traje od 30 do 50 dana.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Iako kaljenje bitno uti\u010de na otpornost biljaka prema izmrzavanju, i kaljene biljke na vrlo niskim temperaturama mogu da izmrznu.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Snijeg kao izolator<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Osim \u0161to je va\u017ean izvor vode tokom zime, snijeg je dobar toplotni izolator. Pore\u0111enja radi, u odnosu na mineralno zemlji\u0161te, snijeg deset puta slabije provodi toplotu. O zna\u010daju snijega na prezimljavanje usjeva, izme\u0111u ostalih \u00a0ukazuju navodi Stojanovi\u0107a (1979), koji ukazuje da zahvaljuju\u0107i izolacionom djelovanju snijega\u00a0 na spoljnoj temperaturi od -20\u2070 C, temperatura ispod snijega nije se spustila ispod -2\u2070 C, \u010dime su usjevi za\u0161ti\u0107eni od izmrzavanja. Prema jednom mjerenju temperatura na povr\u0161ini snijega debljine 10-12 cm je iznosila -14\u2070C, dok je na povr\u0161ini zemlji\u0161ta ispod snijega iznosila -1\u2070 C, a na dubini od 30 cm 2,2\u2070 C. S obzirom da je kriti\u010dna temperatura je\u010dma na dubini \u010dvora bokorenja (3-5 cm ispod povr\u0161ine zemlji\u0161ta)\u00a0 -12 do -15\u2070 C, p\u0161enice izme\u0111u -14 i -17\u2070 C, ra\u017ei od -22 do -24\u2070 C, ukoliko je visina snijega barem 10 cm ,o\u0161te\u0107enje \u010dvora bokorenja se obi\u010dno nikada ne doga\u0111a.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Podlubljivanje<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Uslovi bez snijega mogu pogodovati pojavi koja se naziva podlubljivanje ili srije\u017e, a koja mo\u017ee da uzrokuje ve\u0107e o\u0161te\u0107enje usjeva. Do ove pojave dolazi kada se zemlji\u0161te u povr\u0161inskom sloju smrzne, zbog \u010dega se taj sloj izdigne kao kora. Izdignuta kora podi\u017ee biljke (strna \u017eita i druge), \u010dime dolazi do \u010dupanja i kidanja njihovih korijenova.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pripremio: dipl. ing. polj.
